Badhaka means something which creates obstacles and this can be seen in the rasi depending on the lagna rising. The badhaka can be recent or from the past life. We are aware that there are 12 rasis and each rasi has a rising lagna and every lagna has a badhaka house and a badhakesa(obstacle creator).
Signs are dividied as Movable,Fixed and Dual hence for every MOVABLE SIGN the 11th house is badhaka sthana while for Fixed signs the 9th house and for DUAL signs the badhaka will be 7th house. Here let us take Leo lagna and for this lagna the badhaka sthana will be 9th house which is Aries when counted from Lagna and the planet creating the Badhaka is Mars.
In the same way we have to see all other rasis and find their badhaka sthana and also badhakesa..Badhakesa is like Rahu which is blocking everything in your path while the planet which removed this badhaka is 7th from the badhaka graha and this will act like Ganesha(Ketu)

Let us take an example of badhaka and how it works
In this chart we find that Leo is rising and this being fixed sign the 9th house which is Aries become Badhaka sign and the Lord Mars will become the badhakesa.
First the sign badhaka we find that Rahu is placed and here there are two things which we should consider. 9th is house of father and Rahu being the lord of the 7th house also denotes the spouse. So at the first instance we see that Rahu is creating troubles by being in the badhaka sign
Native had terrible issues with his father(Note that father was an mechanical engineer,Mars denotes mechanics) and Rahu being in the sign of Aries made father having anger issues and also the spouse(Rahu being the 7th lord) natives spouse had health issues after marriage
The other things what we have to notice is Mars the badhakesa and see where it is placed and what will be the outcome.
In this case Mars is placed in the 3rd house of Parakrama but with Ketu the lord of the 4th house...Hence apart from issues from father native had more issues with his mother Note that Mars and Ketu is considered as Pisacha badha and native for the first 7 years of his birth faced lot of health issues like boils on his body with Puss and also mother having anger issues. Hence because of badhaka and badhakesa he had issues with both his parents.
REMEDY: Native was advised by his guru to donate 9 small eggs(made of silver) to lord Nagheswara during the native birth tithi or birth nakshatra which the native did. After doing this native started getting into Jyotish and it has been 25 years since native is totally into Jyotish learning and practising.
